There are over 116,000people in Australia experiencing homelessness
Could you imagine - if it's even possible - that tonight, you are homeless. You’ve got a bag of belongings, and what ever cash you do have left, you’ll need to put towards food to survive. So if you found yourself with a few dollars left in your pocket, would you actually spend it on washing and drying your clothes? How high of a priority could that be when you’re cold, hungry, scared, and you don't know where you'll be from one minute to the next?
Orange Sky helps to positively connect people in need through free laundry, showers and conversation.
Gariwerd Motel makes a monthly contribution to Orange Sky. We do this for a very simple reason: we earn our living from the fact that you can afford the home you are living in and have enough left over to go on a holiday sometimes.
We're a budget motel. We don't offer a 5 star luxury experience. You've seen it, The Gariwerd Motel is friendly, affordable, clean and simple. And that's a luxury that many can't afford.
And some can't afford a permanent place to live at all, let alone leave it behind for a weekend in the Grampians.
So we make a small contribution each month to an organisation that is dedicated to helping those people. And we're not going to lie, we want you to think nice things about us for doing so. But that's not why we do it. We do it because we feel grateful for what we have, and we understand that there's a lot of luck involved in who gets what in life.
We're not asking you to do anything. But if you'd like to know more about what they do and why, this is a great place to start...
